The Farmhouse Kitchen Difference
Staff - We pride ourselves in hiring people who not only exude passion and enthusiasm when it comes to healthy, clean living but also when it comes to investing in others' health journeys. Our success relies solely on the cohesiveness of a team with greater purpose.
Relationships - Our joy of coming into work daily is focused around building relationships with the people who come through our doors. It starts with a simple hello, mixed in with some hugs and laughter, topped off with establishing a greater sense of community. In essence, we believe our farmhouse vibe provides the most encouraging environment for fostering a sense of happiness and belonging.
Food - There is no compromise when it comes to the food we serve. We strive to provide as close to 100% Organic, Non-GMO ingredients. Our meat, poultry, and dairy are sourced from local farms that feed their animals ONLY grass with the ability to freely roam on open pastures. Capitalizing on seasonally inspired ingredients for variety and increased health benefits is a must, plus it adds excitement to our ever changing menu.
Transparency - Sourcing local when possible is so important not only for freshness and enhanced health benefits but also for the livelihood of the local farming communities. CSAs (community supported agriculture) are such beautiful collaborations providing easier access and convenience to produce and locally curated goods. It's important to us that you know where certain ingredients are sourced, and through that transparency, we are able to honor the hard work of the local farming community.
Cooking - When it comes to the process of cooking food, we use only high quality, reputable ceramic cookware. Utilizing this cookware not only enhances the flavor of food by not allowing toxic metals to leach into your food, but it's environmentally friendly, too, by reducing energy demands. We absolutely say NO to microwaves!
Lighting - Our lighting fixtures, custom built by Olde Brick Lighting in Lititz, have within them incandescent bulbs. The heat generated by incandescent light bulbs, which is infrared radiation, is actually beneficial to your health, and hence worth the extra cost. You cannot feel near-infrared as heat, and you cannot see it, but it has a major beneficial impact in terms of health like priming the cells in your retina for repair and to help regenerate. Near-infrared is what's missing in non-thermal artificial light sources like LED. So, to summarize, the main problem with LEDs is the fact that they emit primarily blue wavelengths and lack the counterbalancing healing and regenerative near-infrared frequencies. They have very little red in them, and no infrared, which is the wavelength required for repair and regeneration.
Water - Utilizing a Reverse Osmosis system for all of our water needs is of the utmost importance. Since we had a choice, it was an easy decision to consider eliminating lead, flouride, chlorine, solid particulates, and other unsavory contaminants out of the beverages and food we serve. Purified water makes everything you consume taste better. Not only will this help protect your health but it will give you greater peace of mind too.
Supplies - We strive to be as eco-conscious and environmentally friendly as possible in all aspects of running the cafe. We use ceramic and glass supplies in-house. What about to-go you may ask? We use compostable, sustainably sourced, & plant-based supplies! We even use the old bottle deposit method for some of our take-out drinks.
Education - What would our brand really be without providing health awareness through education? We built this brand to provide a community hub that is inviting, free of judgment and intimidation. Getting you through the doors may be enough to start a conversation, but we are about multiple opportunities of engagement. Education is tied around many components of our operations from our menu and table pamphlets; health series and workshops; cooking classes; and yes, movie nights!
